<title>Synchronizing India's Maritime Security and Blue Economy: A Sustainable Development Approach</title>
<link>http://irgu.unigoa.ac.in/drs/handle/unigoa/7865</link>
<description>Synchronizing India's Maritime Security and Blue Economy: A Sustainable Development Approach
Narvenkar, M.; Tripathi, R.
India, strategically located in the Indo-Pacific, plays a crucial role in ensuring maritime governance, regional stability, and economic security. As a key global and regional player, India's maritime strategy is critical for maintaining good order at sea, safeguarding its national interests, and strengthening its influence in the Indo-Pacific region. However, despite its geostrategic significance, India's maritime potential remains underutilized, necessitating a comprehensive approach that integrates security and economic priorities. This paper provides an in-depth, comprehensive analysis of India's maritime security framework and the evolving role of its blue economy through the lens of sustainable development theory. It explores how tenets of India's blue economy contribute to sustainable ocean-based economic activities and contribute to India's economic growth while preserving marine ecosystems. By examining the key tenets of the blue economy, the study highlights the challenges India faces in nurturing its ocean economy. The analysis underscores the urgent need for India to synchronize India's maritime security with the blue economy.

<title>Reconceptualizing India's Security - National, Transnational, and Maritime Dimensions in the 21st Century</title>
<link>http://irgu.unigoa.ac.in/drs/handle/unigoa/7864</link>
<description>Reconceptualizing India's Security - National, Transnational, and Maritime Dimensions in the 21st Century
Narvenkar, M.
This Paper examines the evolution of India's security framework in the 21st century, highlighting its transition from a traditional, land-based, military-centric model to a comprehensive approach that encompasses national, transnational, and maritime security. Originally shaped by partition, regional conflicts, and territorial disagreements with Pakistan and China, India's security focus was mainly state-centric. However, globalisation, technological advances, and emerging threats have expanded these perspectives, prompting India to rethink security beyond mere territorial defence. During the early nation-building phase, threats primarily came from Pakistan and China from a national security perspective. Later, India faces interconnected transnational threats such as terrorism, cybercrime, illicit trafficking, climate change, and regional instability. Its strategic responses include increased multilateral cooperation, intelligence sharing, and flexible security partnerships with like-minded nations. Maritime security became a key aspect after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, due to India's long coastline, reliance on sea lines of communication, and growing geopolitical competition in the Indian Ocean region. Therefore, this research paper aims to explore how India's security architecture has evolved and been redefined from a primarily national focus to a broader transnational and maritime perspective. It investigates the factors shaping India's strategic development and concludes by offering a nuanced understanding of how India navigates the complex security landscape of the 21st century.

<description>Dataset of 'Interpreting Emerging Strategies in Soft Power: Model &amp; Modalities of India and South Korea'
Narvenkar, M.; Fernandes, C.A.
This study examines the soft power strategies of India and South Korea, comparing their models and modalities as emerging middle powers with distinct cultural, economic, and technological strengths. It draws on data collected through a web-based questionnaire administered in India to respondents aged 18-61 and above. A total of 511 valid responses were gathered and archived in Mendeley. The dataset enables a comparative analysis of soft power approaches, including normative initiatives, civilizational legacies, international standing, national branding practices, and economic drivers linked to national development and global influence. It offers insights relevant for scholars, policymakers, and international relations research.
