This paper attempts to explore the literary works of the poets of Parlapadu to understand the local history of this village and its neighbouring territory. Parlapadu is a tiny village with a remarkable history. It is situated in Rajupalem Mandal of Kadapa district. From 19th Century onwards this village could produce many literary giants that even the towns and cities with sizable population could not bring forth. Their writings have a varied range from simple moral teachings to complex poetic works based on metrics and dealt with the spiritual quests as well, experimenting with all forms of literary writing like Harikatha, novel, play, articles, stories and also include translations from Sanskrit into Telugu. This paper tries to study the socio, cultural aspects of local history as reflected in their versatile literary works and present the causes that supported and encouraged the educational and social mobility of rural population particularly from Parlapadu towards the places of higher education, social prestige, recognition at royal courts. History of Goan Liberation Movement and it's parallels with the Indian Independence Movement, history of Goan freedom fighters from the basic details like their native village to the more significant information such as their ideological leanings, political affiliations, their contribution towards the Goan liberation movement, the working of various wings of Colonial Government, administrative, judicial and police etc., that were active and profuse in the suppression of the movement for longer time, and the conditions of the subaltern natives under the Portuguese colonial rule are some of the many aspects of colonial history of Goa that can be re-viewed and reconstructed with the help of the TMT files. During the times of the Goan liberation movement, particularly after the independence of India from the British colonialism, Sawantwadi became the hub of nationalist activities by the Goans as well as the Sawantwadekars against the Portuguese colonialism. Several places of Sawantwadi had become the locations of resistance and several individuals from this region of Konkan played active role in the Goan liberation movement. The present paper explores various sources to understand several aspects such as geo, political and historical positioning of Sawantwadi in extending its support for the Goan cause.
