dc.description.abstract EXAFS, X-ray Rietveld refinement and infra-red absorption measurements have been made on Yb(1-x)Ca(x)(Ba(0.8)Sr(0.2))(2)Cu(3)O(6+delta) in order to understand the effect of Ca doping on the local structure of planar Cu ion. The study indicates that, restoration of superconductivity is due to oxidation of copper ions in the CuO(2) planes. en_US
