dc.description.abstract | In this article which is dedicated to the memory of Sir C. V. Raman and his scientific genius we would like to focus the attention of the scientific community on the universality of the Raman effect in all the ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum from far infrared to gamma rays. After explaining the basic Raman effect the article discusses nuclear Raman effect in the gamma ray region, x-ray Raman effect involving the electronic states and the well known Raman process in the optical as well as infrared regions in which the valence electronic and the molecular states participate. | |
