Medical diagnosis can be done by studying the human eye. Fundus image analysis is playing an important role in the early detection of retinal diseases like diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension etc. Segmentation of blood vessels, measurement of tortuosity, diameter measurement, finnding the artery vein ratios are the few features to be looked in the fundus images for diagnosis purpose. This can be implemented using image processing techniques. Glaucoma is a neurodegenerative disorder, which causes partial loss of vision. In this project we propose an algorithm for the detection of glaucoma ausing image processing techniques in Matlab. Detection of glaucoma is based on cup to disc ratio calculation. People with cup to disc ratio greater than 0.3 are likely to be suffering from glaucoma. The key image processing techniques to be used are wiener filtering, color mapping, threshold based segmentation, morphological operation and ROI (Region of Interest) features extraction. |
