dc.description.abstract In recent years, the field of bioanalytical techniques has emerged as one of the most promising tools. With timeless efforts of researchers, these techniques have matured significantly in terms of sensitive analysis of biological or chemical compounds from complex biological matrix with minimal sample preparation steps. This chapter presents an overview of bioanalytical techniques, especially an enzymatic assay. Principles behind enzymatic assays, specifically enzyme inhibition-based assays, parameters required for optimization of enzyme assays, analytical features of merit for the enzyme assays, and its applicability for real sample analysis will be briefly discussed here. Commercial application of developed bioassays always has been restricted due to enzyme stability issues. This chapter also highlights such significant limitations and provides cost-effective approaches to overcome them. Enzymatic assays are reported to screen hundreds of chemicals in food and environmental samples with minimal sample preparation. Applicability of enzymatic assays for high-throughput screening, especially for field analysis, is also briefly discussed here. en_US
