dc.description.abstract Petroleum is an important non-renewable energy source used for various purposes like transportation and in industries. Sometimes accidently or due to human interference, it can contaminate the soil. Cleaning of these polluted soils with mechanical or physicochemical treatments could be very expensive or difficult task. Bioremediation of these petroleum affected soils is an eco-friendly, economic, and efficient option. This chapter focuses on the use of bioremediation in treatment of petroleum-contaminated soils. en_US
