dc.description.abstract Mayem is a small lake in Bicholim Taluka of Goa, surface sediment samples collected during the pre-monsoon and the monsoon seasons are used to understand their size distribution in the lake. The major part of the sediment falls in a very fine grained category (silt and clay). Seasonal variation occur in the sediment characters and there is a definite relation between the sediment distribution and the organic carbon.
