dc.description.abstract Development of nanomaterial-based electrochemical biosensors is the most rapidly advancing scientific field. The unique chemical and electrical properties of nanomaterials make them ideal candidates for use in electrochemical sensing applications. Integrating the properties of nanomaterial functionalized with receptor molecules to detect the biomarker has led to the development of biosensors with enhanced sensing potential. Furthermore, engineering the nanomaterial-modified electrode surfaces for accurate and precise detection of biomolecules requires thorough understanding of biosensing concepts of sensitivity and selectivity of nanomaterials as well as target molecules. Accordingly, this chapter covers the role of functionalized nanomaterial-based biosensors in disease diagnosis and prognosis. It emphasizes the efficacy of various class of nanoparticles and their peculiar activity in detecting the disease-specific biomarkers. Moreover, the basic electrochemical sensing techniques that are employed are discussed. Overall, this chapter chronicles the recent advancements in nanobiosensing field and focuses on challenges and future outlook in developing efficient nanosensor devices. en_US
