dc.description.abstract	Sawantwadi as a tehsil, is currently a part of Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. During the times of the Goan liberation movement, particularly after the independence of India from the British colonialism, Sawantwadi became the hub of nationalist activities by the Goans as well as the Sawantwadekars against the Portuguese colonialism. Several places of Sawantwadi had become the locations of resistance and several individuals from this region of Konkan played active role in the Goan liberation movement. The present paper explores various sources to understand several aspects such as geo, political and historical positioning of Sawantwadi in extending its support for the Goan cause.	en_US
