dc.description.abstract Sedimentology, the study of sediments and the processes that result in their deposition has been a fundamental aspect of geological sciences. Understanding modern sediments is crucial for interpreting the Earth's history and predicting future geological changes. Modern sediments not only hold keys to past climate conditions and tectonic activities but also provide insights into present-day environmental changes and human impacts on coastal and marine ecosystems. This knowledge is essential for various applications, including resource exploration, environmental management, and mitigating natural hazards. The CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India, together with the Indian Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) hosted a one-day webinar focussed on "Modern Sediments" on 29 June 2024. en_US
