dc.description.abstract Market orientation has been one of the most researched topics in the last decade. It has been found that market orientation leads to better organizational performance. The cornerstone of market orientation concept is customer focus. The development of academic literature in market orientation has paralleled the development of practices in the industries. The development of the concept has passed through distinct evolutionary stages as outlined in the paper. Today the concept is of paramount importance to practitioners and academics alike.
