Abstract:
Lanthanum manganates and cobaltates and their intermediate compositions LaMn(1-x)Co(x)O(3) (x = 0.0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 1.0) with a perovskite structure have been synthesized by co-precipitation precursor technique. These compounds show phase transitions from semi-conductor to semi-metallic in the range of 570-630 K and also considerable increase in activity of carbon monoxide oxidation to carbon dioxide. An attempt has been made to understand the effect of B-site substitution in the lattice of LaMnO(3) and their correlation with the solid-state properties.
