Abstract:

The structure of the title complex, (C4N2H14)[MoS4], consists of tetrahedral tetrathiomolybdate dianions connected to butane-1,4-diammonium dications, (1,4-bnH(2))(2+), via hydrogen bonding. The compound contains two crystallographically independent butane-1,4-diammonium dications in the asymmetric unit, both of which are located around centres of inversion. The anions are located in general positions.
