dc.description.abstract Coastal dunes are of vital ecological significance. Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi help in establishment of plant cover, thereby, improving the fertility of sand dunes. The present study was carried out to find out the diversity of AM fungi in vegetation of coastal sand dunes. Eleven species belonging to five genera of fungi were recorded. The species included Glomus monosporum, Glomus multi-substensum, Gigaspora albida, Gigaspora margarita, Gigaspora reticulatum, Acaulospora scrobiculata, Acaulospora spinosa, Sclerocystis microcarpus, Scutellospora gregaria, Scutellospora coralloidea and Scutellospora verrucosa.
