dc.description.abstract Members of Pteridales (Pteridophyta) are important sources of food, medicine and also possesses great ornamental value. Survey undertaken along 24 localities of Goa has resulted into the discovery of 16 species of 6 genera representing 5 families of order Pteridales. Seven species of this order have been reported for the first time from Goa. Pteris aspericaulis, P. linearis, P. almediana, Cheilanthes bullosa, Pityogramma calomelonos var. aureoflava, Adiantum latifolium and A. venusta are the new records for the state of Goa. The present paper gives the details of distribution, ecology and utilization of Pteridales in Goa.
