dc.description.abstract The present paper deals with the diversity of desmids from freshwater habitats of Goa. Desmids (Chlorophyta - Zygnematales) are the unicellular organisms which form important floristic component in the assessment of water quality. Random collection from diverse freshwater habitats has resulted in the discovery of 10 genera with 38 species. The present paper deais with the morpho-taxonomic account of desmids ofNorthern Goa, India.
