dc.description.abstract The butterfly diversity of four sacred groves in Goa, viz., Nirankarachi Rai, Alvatinichi Rai, Mharinginichi Rai and Azobhachi Rai was selected for study purposes. A total of 33 species belonging to 31 genera were observed which accounts for about 13 percent of the species recorded from Goa. The Family Nymphalidae dominated with a high number of species with maximum diversity in Mharinginichi Rai. It is concluded that further studies on groves from different habitats will significantly increase this number. en_US
