Influence of Mn substitution on Mössbauer and magnetic properties of Ni-Zn Ferrite nanoparticles

Abstract

Series of Mn-substituted Ni-Zn ferrite compositions were synthesized and characterized using XRD, IR, TEM, and Mössbauer studies. The lattice parameter was found to increase with an increase in Mn substitution. The FTIR spectra of ferrites show two principal absorption bands in the regions 580-630 and 390-420 cm sup(-1). The sup(57)Fe Mossbauer spectra recorded at room temperature were fitted with three sextets corresponding to Fe sup(3+) ions at A and B sites and a superparamagnetic doublet. The saturation magnetization shows an initial increase at lower Mn doping and decreases with a further increase in Mn concentration. The coercivity was found to decrease with Mn substitution.
