Abstract:
The authors of the title paper (J Mol Struc 1239 (2021) 130463) report to have synthesized for the first time dimethylketo thiosemicarbazone (DMKT) and determined its single crystal structure. In contrast to this claim, the so-called DMKT is not a new organic Schiff base, but in fact, the commercially available acetone thiosemicarbazone, whose single crystal structure reported in 1974, is archived in the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD). In this letter to the Editor, we highlight the importance of compound nomenclature as well as deposition of single crystal structure data in the CSD by taking DMKT as an example.
