Sulfadiazine, a better diazotizing reagent for the spectrophotometric determination of nitrite

Abstract

It is found that the use of sulfadiazine in place of p-nitroaniline or o-nitroaniline as the diazotizing reagent, followed by coupling with reported coupling agents, for the spectrophotometric determination of nitrite in traces, gives better sensitivity. The improved method, which is based on the Griess reaction, has also been used as a spot test for the qualitative determination of nitrite. The limit of detection is found to be less than 0.04 mu g.
