Goa, India's smallest state, known for its sun, sand, sea, and lush green vegetation, depends largely on tourism as the main driving force of its economy. Employment opportunities, equitable regional economic development, alternative sources of income, social inclusion and the transfer of tourism from over-exploited enterprises, are a few benefits of peripheral tourism. This study explores the challenges faced by peripheral tourism enterprises in Goa and coping strategies employed therein. In the process, significant institutional arrangement and vulnerability context barriers encountered by peripheral tourism entrepreneurs are identified and examined. Policymakers, tourism authorities, and entrepreneurs seeking to promote sustainable tourism development in peripheral areas would find this study a valuable resource. Overall, this study sheds light on the challenges faced by peripheral tourism enterprises and offers practical strategies to overcome these obstacles. |
