Drawing on three novels, the author deals with two situations of exile: first, the quebecois who leaves his motherland and lives elsewhere, in a world of different and contradictory and thus, hostile values; next, the Goan, in Goa, earlier dominated by the Portuguese for four centuries, for whom freedom and rejoining India lead to the strange experience of an "interior exile". Whatever may be the type of exile, further experienced through globalization, it will always be the painful and complex learning process of a new life. |
